Motif and details

In Japan, the Camellia (Tsubaki) symbolizes divine love (connected to the Goddess Amaterasu), perfection, beauty, and the transient nature of life. It is often linked to the samurai's noble, swift end and resilience. Its unique way of dropping the entire flower represents the Japanese concept of "Mono no Aware": the fleeting beauty and sudden end of life, a key Japanese aesthetic concept.
